Carry out of 174 research projects, the results of which were published as final reports or papers in the Institute's scientific research journal and other Iranian and foreign scientific journals and also in internal or foreign scientific conferences.

Regarding the division journal, since 1996 the results of the research of the wood  science and forest products research division have been published in a special series entitled “ The Iranian Journal of Wood and Paper Research” covering hundreds  articles.

The main topics for research projects of the division have been as follows.
- Basic projects on wood anatomy of forest tree species, fast growing resources and Iranian non-woods
- Basic projects on the engineering properties of commercial woods in Iran
- Applied projects on properties and optimal production conditions of wood composites including particle board, fiber board, board, wood, plastic, etc. made from forest species, fast growing sources and lignocellulosic material of non-wood species and agricultural residues

- Applied projects on properties and optimal production conditions of different pulp making methods made from wood of forest species, fast growing sources and lignocellulosic material of non-wood species and agricultural residues 
- Projects for the conservation and improvement of woods include drying programs of commercial wood species, increasing the durability of commercial and fast growing wood species against biological destructive agents
