The certificate is full color, A4 landscape, personalized with the photograph and Latin name of your chosen seed, together with your name. If you purchase the seed adoption as a gift, the name of the recipient is also shown. You can add a message to either of these as well.

When you complete the payment, you will receive a hard copy or an email confirmation which will have a link to down the certificate in PDF format. If it is a gift, the recipient will receive an email telling them you have purchased them a seed adoption and a link to the certificate (if you supply their e-mail address during the payment process).

 

What if my adoption is a gift for more than one person?

The adoption certificate will be sent to you via e-mail, therefore you can forward it on or print it off as many times as you need.

 

How does your money actually save a species?
All plant species which are listed as part of the Adopt a seed for Save a species campaign are species of which seeds have already been banked, at Natural Resources Gene Bank at Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands.

Your donation will be used to maintain the Natural Resources Gene Bank and to collect more species in the future. Your sponsorship of that species will be recognized on a permanent sticker at the Natural Resources Gene Bank. You will also recognize at sponsored species section of Natural Resources Gene Bank websites.

By adopting a seed you are making a contribution to the ongoing costs of maintaining Natural Resources Gene Bank, so that it remains an important resource for the conservation of the Iran's plant species.

A message from manager of Natural Resources Gene Bank

Today, nearly 2000 of 8000 plant species of Iran are faced with the threat of extinction. Plants are dying out largely due to the activities of people. Clearing of primary vegetation, over-exploitation and climate change are all causing species losses.

Iran's Natural Resources Gene Bank aims to save plants of Iran with a focus on plants most at risk and most useful for the future. We have already successfully saved seeds from over 40% of the Iran's wild plant species. Our aim is to secure the safe storage of seed from 100% of the Iran’s bankable plants. We target plants and regions most at risk from climate change and the ever-increasing impact of human activities. We also save the seeds of the Iran's plant life faced with the threat of extinction, and those that could be of most use in the future.

By knowing this fact "nearly 2400 plant species of Iran are faced with the threat of extinction'' we can not sit back and watch plant species disappear. If we stay unconcerned to losing of plant species, we'd lose the animal life that depends on those plants and ultimately we'd lose ourselves.
